One of the things I am now used to is holding meetings across the world, using Skype or Zoom. I was first approached by a lovely couple who are originally from the UK – Dee from Scotland, and Martin from Chester – but now live in Cairns, Australia. They had found me while searching for a celebrant to create and conduct their winter wedding back in Cheshire. We had several Skype meetings to get to know each other, and for me to create their ceremony. These words from Martin after …

A gay wedding

Susan Foxall Ceremonies, Weddings

What a delight this was for sure! Jonny & Ryan were an absolute delight to work with, and the ceremony turned out to be everything they hoped for and more (read what they thought here). They contacted me almost a year before their big day and we worked together over the months to create the perfect ceremony for them to declare their love for one another. The day was fab – a wonderful atmosphere, gorgeous guests all dressed up, and they were very emotional when it came to exchanging their …

Combining my passions

Susan Foxall News

Recently I was contacted by the Guardian – they had run an article about me when I first set up Simply Ceremonies and they were checking in with me to see how I was getting on. Fortunately I am still newsworthy! They ran an article about my plans to visit the USA to become a legal wedding officiant across the pond. They were really interested in this from a ‘local girl makes good’ kind of angle. The reporter and I chatted about plans to spread the word internationally, and how …

I am lucky enough to have been nominated in the Professional Services category and the Guardian newspaper heard about this. They contacted me for another article to chat about the awards and what it meant to me. Naturally I am absolutely delighted to have received this recognition and then to make the finalist shortlist is amazing – I went to Blackpool to …

For more details, please contact me to learn about this beautiful ancient ritual – it’s where marriage began. The term Handfasting comes from an Old Norse  meaning “to strike a bargain by joining hands”. Orginally couples were joined together in this way in Britain before the 1750s when the Marriage Act ended the custom as the Church got involved. In ancient Greece and Rome garlands were made of magnolia, elder and roses which was …

Why choose a celebrant

Susan Foxall Baby Namings, Ceremonies, Funerals, Handfastings, Vow Renewals, Weddings 0 Comments

If you choose a Celebrant for your wedding, for example, you can also choose where, when, words, vows, music – no restrictions Your day, your way. Please note however, that under current English law, a Celebrant cannot carry out the legal bit (watch this space, as this will change in time!) – so you need to go to the Register office first – just as you would register a birth, you register the marriage.  You then get your licence to have your most personal and unique wedding celebration exactly how …
